State Enterprise Forests of Ukraine completed the first stage of
exchange trading of timber with delivery in Q1 2026, at which
100% of lots were sold, in particular, birch, alder and oak
wood, the press service of the state enterprise reported.
Forests of Ukraine noted that the starting prices at the
exchange trading were significantly lower than the current sales
prices.
According to the report, the price of alder decreased by 16%
compared to the fourth quarter — from UAH 7,000 per cubic meter
to UAH 5,900 per cubic meter.
At the same time, the cost of birch increased by 22% — from UAH
6,200 per cubic meter to UAH 7,600 per cubic meter, and oak rose
by 15% — from UAH 59,000 per cubic meter to UAH 68,000 UAH per
cubic meter.
As reported earlier, in November 2025 the state enterprise
Forests of Ukraine conducted exchange auctions for the third
time, offering the option to conclude forward contracts for the
first half of 2026 for a six-month period at a fixed price for
forest product procurement. As a result, 100% of the 1.4 million
cubic meters of forest products offered at the auctions were
contracted (35% of the planned six-month commercial timber
harvesting volume).
