Swedish Mellanskog decreases the base price of hardwood pulpwood
by 50 kr/m3fub to 580 kr/m3fub and fuelwood by 50 kr/m3fub to
500 kr/m3fub, effective August 20, 2025, company announced. This
is compnay’s first price decrease since October 2019, when it
last lowered pulpwood and sawlog rates in response to high
supply and weak global demand.
The supply of wood and hardwood pulpwood is large on the market,
according to the company. The price of finished products from
the forest industry has decreased as a result of the current
surplus and the strengthened value of the Swedish krona. The
mild winter of 2025 has contributed to a surplus of wood.
– Mellanskog adjusts the price according to the current market
situation and in order to be able to guarantee the long-term
benefits of the association. Timber prices remain high and the
conditions are favorable for forest owners to manage their
forests, says Fredrik Munter, Mellanskog's CEO.
Mellanskog has a turnover of around 5 billion SEK and has just
over 28,000 members.
