
Norway: Logs have risen sharply in price within a year
While prices for spruce logs in Norway continued to rise in June
2025 compared to the previous month, pine logs have become
slightly cheaper and hardwood logs significantly cheaper.
Compared to June 2024, all log prices are around a third higher.
At the end of June, the price of spruce logs in Norway almost
reached the NOK 1100/m3 mark. At NOK 1,096/m3 (€ 92/m3),
Statistics Norway recorded the highest value since records
began.
Poland: Softwood log prices above previous year's level
In the second quarter of 2025, softwood log prices in Poland
rose significantly compared to the same quarter of the previous
year. Compared to the previous quarter, however, a noticeable
downward trend can be seen for softwood.
Latvia: Log prices rise
In the second quarter of 2025, the price of coniferous logs in
Latvia rose again compared to the previous quarter. The price of
hardwood logs has also risen again for the first time after a
downward trend lasting almost two years.
USA: Hardwood lumber exports decline
Exports of hardwood lumber from the USA fell by 10 % in the
first six months of 2025 compared to the same period of the
previous year. Main customers China and Canada in particular
purchased significantly less than in the first half of 2024.
